We've made it to Zion!

NAGOYA

After a damn swift shinkansen ride on Saturday we got to Club Zion on time for soundcheck.  So professional over here!  Smashed some gyoza from 7eleven of all places, and fired ourselves up for what turned out to be another monstrous show of glorious highs with terrific bands and magnificent dancing, never have we SEEN such dancing!  Audiences aren't afraid to get involved over here, up and about to the first song from the first band, hands in the air, singing along, heads-down-thumbs-up for some solid ska rug-cutting. So great, got amongst it, and gee whizz it was hot hot.  Lucky bands have towels over here, band towels, towels as merch with the band name printed on, ..BAND TOWELS is what i'm saying... great idea. Necessary idea.  Almost as necessary as moist towlettes which one finds so often over here...
All these japanese bands are of the highest standard by the way, fuck-a-peking-duck they know how to play!  The Stackers played good street punk a la Rancid and the dudes made us feel like we were old friends.  Charlie were absolutely nuts, so good.  Ska Freaks and Skalapper had the joint completely pumpin' and Vagarious Vagabondage finished us all off with quite a happy ending... tore the place down!  Even WE played great this night, everyone seemed to dig us and have a good time...
Again, they know how to play over here, and how to party!  After the show a large convoy of party people hit the street and walked up to a tiny restaurant where we were led through down the back and up some stairs to the izakaya room for some of the most delicious food ever eaten, drinks galore and some of the best, nicest, hilarious people.  This tour has already delivered some really seriously positive vibrations.  Looking forward to what else the land of the rising sun has to offer these four humbled music men and one sexy tour manager...
Stay tuned,

Shibuya "Glad" Show

Friday night was the first gig of our Japan tour, and the scene of the crime was Shibuya 'Glad' in Tokyo.
The memories of our previous Japan tour flooded back, with all the hectic craziness of Tokyo being both exciting and a bit overwhelming.
The venue 'Glad' was really cool - there was a dance floor for skanking as well as raised levels that surrounded the stage.
Rei, the frontman of 'Rei Maestrogiovanni Band' had organised the night and he was an awesome dude. The line-up included some really cool punk, ska and reggae bands. One band reminded me of Sublime, and they served up some tasty reggae yoghurt
We were all super excited and couldn't wait to get up on stage to make some ears bleed and break some girls hearts. After munching down on some Mos Burger, throwing back a cocktail or two to ease the nerves, and dancing away to the other bands we finally got up on stage to show Japan that we were there to party. And party we did.
The crowd were awesome and were singing along to our songs. It was surreal! Not to mention the bald guy that Anty was flirting with.
Anty was crowd surfing before the end of our opening song and Craig was moshing his head like it was going to fall off. We also had special guests who rocked out on the horns - Akari and Mihoko.
It was an amazing night and heaps of fun.
We'll be back again to tear it up on Saturday 15th September at club Kinoto in Shibuya.

Jahpan

Hello and welcome to the first confession of the bennies, ‘punky disco smash up party japan tour’.  We are gonna try and drop a solid blog every day. Keep it on a schedule and that. Whoever is doing the blog has been given a bunch of words that they have to use. They will be in bold.

It was ‘dave the brave’s’ girthday yesterday. He turned a year older than the age he was the year before yesterday. We were gonna take it easy after dinner cos we were tired from the flight. But instead we went out to this area called ribongi looking to get pissed on by a stripper. Unfortunately our chests are still dry and remain urine free, but my head hurts and I have a weird stain on my sausage so it’s all smooth gravy.

We are getting ready to head out to the first gig now. Soundcheck is at the nice and early time of 1pm. Gives us about enough time to have a shower and a drink from the bidet.

The gig tonight is in shibuya with a band that sound like sublime and this dude Rei who has been awesome to us.
Gonna keep the first entry brief - thanks heaps for checking the blog out, stay free and tuned in.
